Woodlice Pest Control Products from DIY Pest Control
There are several species of woodlice in Britain, the most common being the Garden Woodlouse (Porcellio scaber). These woodlice are about 15mm in length and oval in shape. They have overlapping plates covering their backs, like miniature armadillos, and have a pair of legs for almost every row of plates. They are slate-grey in colour.
Woodlice are members of the crustacea class and not insects. They need damp conditions to survive and when they come indoors will desicate quickly in dry atmospheres. Woodlice wander indoors, mainly by chance, usually when a large number live close by the house in cracks and crevices by the house walls, under stones, under the bark of trees etc. When seen alive indoors they are likely to have found an indoor harbourage that is damp or wet such as under a bath or behind a kitchen sink. They cause no damage indoors but can be a nuisance pest.
